i’m only happy when it rains

i love the rain and always have. i don’t know what it is, but i love the gray sky and the smell of it. i think part of it may be that when i was a kid i didn’t play outside that much anyway, so i never got bummed like everyone else did when we had to stay inside. i just love it i guess. also, my wife hates it and that’s endearing to me for some reason. that whole “opposites attract” thing again i guess.

on a side note, i’m halfway through a book called “the audacity of hope” by senator barack obama. for those who don’t know, he’s potentially the first (at least part-) black president. he’s a democrat, and so far i can’t say i agree with him on everything. but so far, i at least believe what he’s saying. i’m kind of at a weird point in how i think about politics. even though the election is almost two years away, i really want to know all i can about the people that are wanting to lead the free world. it’s almost like i feel responsible for it or something.

or maybe i’m just young and idealistic.

song for the moment: “track 13” on the cd that daniel dixon made for me. i’m tentatively calling it “movie interlude” cause it reminds me of jon brion’s work on the “eternal sunshine of the spotless mind” soundtrack
