day 5

with one comment

of recording. i haven’t really done anything since being here. not anything that’ll end up on the recording anyway. just demo stuff. moi did most of his work two weeks before we got here and will finish after we leave. drums go first in the recording process, so dylan’s been run through the ringer. and because our producer marc is a bass player first, he wants me to record after the guitars a la sir mccartney. so tomorrow is officially bass recording day. otherwise known as “don’t f*ck this up, matt” day, as it’s known in my mind.

it’s semi-boring around here as far as what i’ve been doing, but the songs are really coming together so far. so that’s exciting. also, my lack of doing much has led to a lot of little banters with the engineers and producer, which has been utterly hilarious. here’s a breakdown of one little scene that happened earlier this week:

daley grabs some reese’s peanut butter cups, which marc has a bit of an affinity for.
me- dude, you wanna split that?
(daley, very seriously, shakes his head no.)
marc- one reese’s?!? that’s like half an orgasm…

moments like that are the gist of the studio experience if you ever wanted to know
